The city of Grand Junction recently completed a street improvement project that resulted in more than 40 blocks of city streets being resurfaced. Total investment in the street resurfacing was $85,000.
The streets in Grand Junction suffered more than the usual wear and tear in the extremely cold and wet months this past winter and spring, causing the surface treatment of several streets to break apart, said a city spokesperson.
Sta-Bilt Construction of Harlan was the contractor on the street project. Sta-Bilt resurfaced 27 blocks of Grand Junction streets two years ago.
To alleviated undue wear and tear on its streets, the Grand Junction city council has formed a committee led by compliance officer Rick Scheuermann to work on designating specific truck routes throughout the town. The routes will work in conjunction with enforcing the city’s ordinances for load restrictions and truck traffic on city streets.
